Wilma Jean (Arwood) Davis, 69, passed away August 3, 2019 in Mansfield, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born to Judson Harold and Mildred (Faulkner) Arwood on November 12, 1949 in Smithfield, North Carolina. She grew up on a farm outside of Smithfield and graduated from Cleveland High School, in Clayton, North Carolina.
As a young lady she learned to make french toast at camp, and that experience became the foundation for her love of cooking. She was so proud of her accomplishment that she spent the rest of that summer making french toast for her friends and family.
Jean married the love of her life Charles "Chuck" Macon Davis on August 30, 1970. Together they had two children Vanessa and Shawn. Jean's selfless devotion to her family was her life's work. Her love for children inspired Jean to expand her family care mission. For many years, she provided in-home child care services for friends and neighbors.
Jean enjoyed spending time with family, especially her granddaughters. She shared her love of cooking with them, and supported them by attending their school events and dance performances.
Jean enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking and crafting, shopping and coffee with family and friends. She had a special fondness for dogs and cats, and LOVED many pets over the years. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved to decorate her home, and looked forward to the family being together.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Mildred Arwood; her loving husband of 23 years, Chuck Davis; and her son Shawn Davis.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in law Vanessa and John Sadler, granddaughters Catlyn and Lily Sadler, daughter-in-law Renee Cox and brother and sister-in-law Judd and Sue Arwood.
Jean was a very caring person. She lived simply with no pretense. She leaves a legacy of love and kindness, and memories that will stay in our hearts forever: mother-daughter talks, calls for advise, fun times at the beach, Christmas morning, and so much more.
