LILLIAN - William W. Garrett, 66, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 27, 2021 at his home in Lillian, TX.
He was born February 28, 1955, in Corpus Christi, the son of Johnny and Bette Jean (Dueitt) Garrett. William (Bill) graduated from Calallen High School, Class of 1973. Following graduation, he attended Bee County College in Beeville, TX. He married his high school sweetheart, Leigh, in 1977. They celebrated 44 years of marriage in January of this year.
Bill had a very diverse career and worked hard all his life, but was most well known in the community for managing/owning Casstevens Cash & Carry for almost 20 years. He is also well known as the youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Lillian, and very active in ministry with the Trinity Valley Tres Dias and DFW Vida Nueva Communities. At the time of his death, Bill was working as a Veterinary Surgical Assistant to Dr. Caleb Vaughan.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, Jimmy Cypert, Bill was predeceased by his infant daughter, Tara Nicole. Surviving in addition to his wife, Leigh (Casstevens) Garrett, are his sons, Nick (Elisa) and Shane (Andrea), as well as his pride and joy, five grandkids: Audrey 13, Caroline 10, Luke 6, Julia 2, and Cass 1 month; one brother, John Garrett and one sister Gaye Lynn Garrett Hadlock, as well numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and some very close lifelong friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3rd at Lillian Baptist Church, 10552 CR 519 Alvarado TX, 76009. Bill loved being the youth pastor at FBC Lillian.
