Willa Dean Durrett, was born August 11, 1931 in Reed, Oklahoma to Carlos Burley and Willie Mavis (Moseley) Roberts. Later, her mother, brother and Willa moved to Pampa, Texas. After her brother married, he moved to Mansfield where she joined him and went back to school. She met Billy Joe there. He drove buses for Mansfield ISD. They raised three children in a two bedroom house. Willa was a homemaker until the kids started school. One of her first jobs was in the cafeteria in a Mansfield school until 1977. Later, she became a material cutter for Oilstates Rubber Industries. After having open heart surgery in the mid 1990's, she retired at 63.
Billy and Willa gave to others in many ways. They kept extra food, paper goods, clothes and even furniture which they shared freely.
Willa loved baking and sewing. The holidays would find her baking cookies, making peanut brittle, fudge and divinity. She designed and made baby quilts for every baby she knew. We will miss her patience and easy-going way.
Willa is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Durrett.
