MANSFIELD -- Wilbur Franklin Matthews, 69, went to be with his Heavenly Father Monday, June 22, 2015, after a long courageous battle with many health issues.
Will was born March 15, 1946 in Pine Bluff, Ark. He belonged to Roy Stanley Masonic Lodge, in Dallas and also was a member of the York Rite and was a Shriner. He worked for Trinkote for over 27 years. His passion was the railcar business , where he established a long term friendship with his customers. He was a team player and was very successful at his job and was loved by all that knew him.
Will loved life. His greatest love was for his wife, family and his many friends he met through the years. He also had a great passion and love for playing music,writing songs and jamming the blues with his musicians friends. He had a band for many years and played in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area.
The family wishes to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses and Staff for the tender loving care they gave him at Baylor Hospital Dallas, Methodist Hospital Mansfield and Kindred Hospital Mansfield, over the years in and out of the hospitals. A very special thanks and gratitude for their caring and friendship to Will goes to Dr. Metesh Kottopolli, Dr. Ssmart, Dr. Sumar Dhawan, Dr. Maria Juarez, Dr. Mohan, Dr. Pormar and Dr. Robert Orr.
Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife Jennie Matthews. They would have celebrated 43 years of marriage July 28, 2015; sons, Richard Matthews of Mesquite and Mark Parsons and wife Sabrina of Miami, Florida; two granddaughters Richelle and Sidney of Mesquite; sisters, Etta Boggs and husband Keneth of Myra, Faye Skeans of Lindsay and Terry Krebs and husband Mark of Lindsay, Jean Cain, Gainsville, Kathy Carnahan and husband Jim; brothers, Bill Black and wife Rose of Myra, Wendell Black and wife De Anne of Lindsay, Mike Black and wife Jan of Flower Mound; Roy Matthews and wife Ramona of White Hill, Ark., Carroll Dean Matthews and wife Cindy of Coos Bay, Oregon, Ronnie Matthews and wife Dixie; sisters-in-law Wanda Wood and Edna Strickland; And many nieces and nephews.
