Wanda Gatlin

September 19, 1926 — July 15, 2012

Wanda Gatlin, a resident of Mansfield, Texas since 2004, passed away peacefully through the Gates of Heaven on the morning of July 15 in Fort Worth, TX. Wanda Pearl Vinson was born in Stroud, Oklahoma, on September 19, 1926, the second of ten children. During WWII, at Tinker Field AFB in Oklahoma, she assisted the war effort by assembling bomber site scopes for U.S. aircraft. After the war she moved to Pomona, CA, where she met her soon-to-be husband, Marvin Gatlin, who had returned from serving in the Navy in the South Pacific during the war. They lived a wonderful life in Pomona for 44 years, where she made many friends, including her many neighbors and co-workers at Pomona Valley Community Hospital. In 1989, Wanda and Marvin moved to Norman, Oklahoma, and later to Mansfield, Texas to be nearer to immediate family. Wanda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Marvin Gatlin; son, Dennis Gatlin and daughter-in-law Patti Gatlin; son, Randy Gatlin and son-in-law Geoff; granddaughters, Tessa Gatlin Pierce, Carrie Gatlin, and Jen Gatlin; great-granddaughter, Roxye Pierce; brothers Roy and Dale; sister, Sue; numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family members in California and Oklahoma. She will be forever in our hearts.
