Virgil Gerald (JERRY) Taylor Sr. of Fort Worth, Texas, went home to be with our lord, November 4, 2019, in Burleson, Texas.
Jerry was born July 12, 1932, in Ft. Worth, Texas. The son of Birda Lloyd Taylor, and Margaret Ruth Ford. He Married Charletta Maxine Wheeler, November 23, 1950.
Jerry was a devout Christian, and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas. For several years, he and Charletta ran the food ministry at Bisbee Baptist Church in Mansfield. He was a member of the Carpenters Union for over 30 years, where he was a superintendent, and worked with the Fort Worth Fire Department. His hobbies were helping others where he could, his church, singing, fishing, and working with his hands.
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and father, and his eldest son, Virgil Gerald (JERRY) Taylor Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Charletta Taylor, youngest son David Lee Taylor Sr. and his wife Twala Taylor, of Madill, Oklahoma, Daughter in law Ingrid Taylor Smerud, of Springtown, Texas. 8 Grandchildren, numerous great grand-children, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family.
There will be a viewing and visitation, at Blessing Funeral Home, at 401 Elm St., Mansfield, Texas, 76063 on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., 5-6pm, being for the family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 10 a.m., at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 12440 Rendon Rd, Burleson, Texas 76028, with interment and graveside service following, at Cope Cemetery, Burleson, Texas. There will be food and fellowship, following the services, at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
