With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Viola Elizabeth "Beth" Cockerham Jones, who entered her heavenly home on February 17, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born on January 17, 1931, in Belton, Texas, Beth was a woman of remarkable strength and devotion to her family. In October of 1948, she married Ray Luther Jones, and together they built a home filled with love, faith, and the joyful chaos of raising seven children. Beth was a beacon of warmth, known for her generosity and the deep care she poured into every stitch of the quilts she lovingly made. Hundreds of people, near and far, are wrapped in the warmth of her handiwork—a testament to her giving spirit.
Beth’s legacy lives on through her devoted family, including her three sisters and one brother, Thelma, Linda, Georgie, and Woodrow (and his wife Molly); her cherished cousin, Raymond (and wife Marilyn); and her children, Brenda Sells (and husband Bill), Ann Sims (and husband Wayne), Mark Jones (and wife Denise), Virginia (and husband Lonnie), Patsy (and husband Barry), and Jerry Jones (and wife Jan), and a host of family and friends. She was blessed with five generations of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren that make a family of 98 descendants.
She was welcomed into heaven by those who passed before her—her beloved parents, Geneva and Dewey Cockerham, her husband Ray, her precious daughter Gidget, her great-grandson Joseph, and her four siblings, Dorothy, Bertha, R.B., and Sam. We take comfort in knowing they are now joyfully reunited.
Beth’s love was stitched into every quilt she made, every meal she prepared, and every moment she spent with those she cherished. Her kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength will forever be the fabric of our family. Though she has left this earth, her love remains woven into our hearts.
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held at Blessings Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, with burial to follow at Milford Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Rest in peace, Mom/Nanny/GranNanny. Your love will always keep us warm.
