MANSFIELD -- Thomas Winfred "Bud" Brewer passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, surrounded by his wife of 70 years and his children and grandchildren. Service: 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Blessing Funeral Home, Mansfield. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Blessing Funeral Home. Tom was born in Broken Bow, Okla., to a family of nine. After just one date he married Frances Steelman in El Paso. He was deployed to the Philippines for 3 1/2 years during World War II and was a decorated war hero who received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star Medal with four bronze service stars. He also received the American Defense Service Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze service stars. He had lived in Mansfield for the past 50 years. His career included 23 years of work and dedication at Lee's Supermarket. Following retirement he then went on to make people smile as a Walmart greeter for four years. He enjoyed his careers in customer service in the town he loved most. He was preceded in death by two of his sons, Winfred Dale and Gary Lynn Brewer. Survivors: His devoted wife, Frances; their four children, Linda Tallent and her spouse, Mike, Michael Brewer and his spouse, Judy, Teresa Parsley and her spouse, John, and Deborah Devlin and her spouse, Chris; grandchildren, Lisa, Mindy, Michael Ray, Jade, Deidre, David, Dalton, Tiffany and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Mackenzie, Lily, Gracey, Alyx, Emma, Olivia, Zaylea, Marshall, Eve, Jessa, Nicole and Gavin; and great-great-grandchild, Isaiah.
