Stan Harper

September 13, 1938 — February 20, 2024

Stanley Keith Harper “Stan”, 85 of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2024, at his home in Mansfield, TX surrounded by the love of his family. He was born September 13, 1938, in Clovis, New Mexico to Ruby and Claude Keith Harper. He was the middle of 5 children.

After graduating Clovis High School, Stan enlisted in the United States Airforce where he furthered his education and served four years as an USAF Air Traffic Control Specialist, Airman First Class. His athleticism shined in competitive basketball throughout his time in the military and beyond in various leagues.

He started L&M Service Group, Inc, a tax services company in Arlington, Texas in 1987 and had a passion for ranching and raising bison, cattle and elk. He owned ranches in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

Stan was known by many as an incredibly generous man. He was devoted to supporting many charities. He had a passion for helping children whether it be through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, assisting those in abusive or displaced situations or simply creating opportunities in rural or farming communities in both Texas and New Mexico. He furthered his generosity by supporting local schools and 4-H groups as well as the Johnson County Children’s Advocacy Center.

He was a big supporter of the Chisholm Trail 100 Association, the National Bison Association and the Texas Bison Organization as well as the Former Texas Rangers Foundation. Stan was an Advisory Director on the FTRF Board.

Stan was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruby and Claude Harper, his brother Larry Donald Harper, his grandson, William Lamgo, and sister, Juanelle Lovett.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of almost 46 years, Linda Harper; children Alan Harper and wife Patti, Debbie Hudson and husband David, Vickie Benson and husband David, Sherri Harper, Sandi Lamgo and husband Phil, Justin Harper, and Kalyn Harper; grandchildren, Kimberly Harper, Katie White and husband Michael, Clinton Harper and wife Jennifer, Shannon Cole and husband Ronny, Brian Hudson, Tiffany Fullingim and husband Wade, Ryan Benson, Jordan Benson, Kyle Hardiman, Paige Hardiman, Andrew Lamgo, Jacob Lamgo, Matthew Lamgo, Melissa Lamgo, Jessica Lamgo, Ava Lamgo, Nathan Lamgo and Sara Lamgo; 10 beautiful great grandchildren; sisters JoEllen Stewart and Kay Horton and husband Bruce.

A visitation will be held at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield on Thursday, February 29th from 6-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Blessing Colonial Chapel on Friday, March 1st at 1:00PM with committal service immediately following at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale.
