Shirley Sue Gidley

Shirley Sue Watson Gidley, 87 of Mansfield, passed away on January 11, 2023. She was a resident of Legend of Mansfield at the time of her passing.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Clyde Watson and Gertrude Evelyn Roberson Watson; and her siblings, Robert Fant Watson, Jozelle Watson Roper, and Billy Ray Watson.

Shirley was a long-time resident of Mansfield, born and raised, and graduated Class of 1953 from Mansfield High School. She raised her children in Mansfield beginning in 1966. She worked at the Mansfield branch of Arlington Savings and Loan many years and eventually worked for Lockheed Martin until she retired in 1998. Shirley was a long-time member of the Mansfield Church of Christ.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Susan Gidley Carter and husband Monte Carter, and Nancy Gidley Cardinale and husband Gary Cardinale; son, Tim Gidley; grandchildren Monica Carter Sudbury and husband John Sudbury, Adam Carter and wife Melissa Carter, Tim Gidley II, Hayden Gidley, Cooper Cardinale and wife Bailey Cardinale, Tanner Cardinale; and great grandchildren Carter Sudbury, Lane Sudbury, Dylan Carter, Devin Carter, Hallie Carter, Evan Cardinale, and Jackson Cardinale.

Shirley was the perfect example of hard work and perseverance. She was beautiful, funny, sweet, and kind. She wore a big, beautiful smile that she shared with anyone and everyone. She will be missed so much by her family and friends.
