Shannon Denise (Robinson) Mabe passed away March 31, 2015, in Ft. Worth.
Shannon was born Oct. 19, 1972, in Oklahoma City. She moved to Texas in 1996 to pursue a career in teaching. It was there she met Chris, and they married on March 13, 1999.
Shannon was born to be a teacher. In 18 years in the classroom, Shannon did more than just teach her students. She loved them, encouraged them and prayed for their well being and success.
Shannon fought cancer until her body could no longer give what her heart and spirit desired. It is beyond difficult to know that Shannon's time with us here is over, but we know she was never ours to keep. She loved us well. Will & Hannah have always been and will always be her pride and joy.
What a tremendous legacy of love, faith and courage she is leaving behind for us all to carry on.
The family will receive visitors at 6 p.m. Friday at First Methodist Mansfield, 777 N Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield. The funeral will be at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by burial at Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, TX, under the direction of Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield.
Shannon is survived by her husband Christopher and children William and Hannah; parents Donnie and Janis Robinson; sister Christy Watson and husband Tim; sister Donnita Brown and husband Michael; sister Theresa Robinson and Travis Mason; mother- and father-in-law Eva and Mack Mabe; brother-in-law Kyle Mabe; nieces and nephews Ashlyn Brown, Grace Watson, Nathan Brown and Christian Watson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Shannon amazed her doctors and nurses with her fight. In the end, even they sought mercy from the ultimate healer. The family is grateful for the loving efforts of the medical teams in Houston and Fort Worth who cared for her. The educators at Donna Shepard Intermediate School in Mansfield are nothing short of heroes. You made it possible for Shannon to continue teaching as long as possible even as she fought for her life. Thank you for your friendship, your dedication and for standing with her through the fight.
