On Tuesday, August second, Sarah Marie Hergenrother, of Mansfield, TX was called to be with our Lord. Sarah was a loving wife, caring and nurturing mother, good friend and caring soul. Sarah was born in Aurora, Il on January 14, 1962 to Helen and Fred Lechner. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Hergenrother, her three children, Kayla, Hannah, Nicholas, her parents and five siblings: Ralph Lechner, Michael Lecher, Marlene Mills, Mary Boles-Barnett and Michele Woods. She is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Sarah devoted her life first to her family, never failing to be there for each of them. She filled their lives with joy and silliness. She never failed to make her husband and kids laugh. She had the most infectious personality. Sarah challenged her family to be the best versions of themselves. She lead by example, spreading love to every person she came in contact with. She was the neighborhood mom no matter where she lived. She took in foreign exchange students and loved them like her own. She changed so many lives around her for the better. She had a special gift in her love and commitment to persons with special needs. She spent the last thirteen years teaching special education for the medically fragile in the Mansfield, TX ISD. She considered each of her students her own child. She also devoted her life to helping those in need. She helped run the St. Vincent de Paul Conference and Food Pantry at St. Jude's Catholic Church. She made sure that numerous people's lives were lifted up by providing food for families, ensuring bills were paid and that everyone left with a smile on their face. Sarah also gave the unbelievably magical gift of life. She had the extremely rare chance to save another person's life by donating her bone marrow. She also actively advocated in the US Congress for the bone marrow registry and championed every day of her life to people to join the registry. She was able to watch her recipient go on to be married and have a child of her own.
Sarah was an exceptionally remarkable person. Most, if not every, person she knew will say that she changed their life and she was the best person they ever knew. Always positive, always happy and, always full of love. She will be forever missed and forever remembered.
