Ruth Ann Fahey

July 4, 1944 — June 9, 2024

Ruth Ann Delaney Fahey, 79, a resident of Mansfield, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. She was born in Angelina County, Texas, on July 4, 1944, and as she liked to say, "one hot firecracker". She grew up in Lufkin, Texas and moved to Fort Worth in 1963, where she met the love of her life, LeRoy Fahey, while working together at Clark's Department Store. This April marked their 60th anniversary, a testament to their enduring love. In 1979, the Fahey family settled in Mansfield, Texas, where Ruth Ann spent the rest of her days.
Ruth Ann worked 19 years at Mansfield Vending Co. as a Route Supervisor before retiring, though she regarded her most significant role as that of a stay-at-home mom to her beloved daughters. Affectionately known as Grammie to her grandchildren, she relished their company and held family above all else. Her protective nature and unwavering love endeared her to many, extending her maternal care beyond her own children to all who knew her.
Known for her infectious laughter, warmth, and empathy, Ruth Ann brightened the lives of countless individuals. She shared many adventures with her YaYas, found joy in watching birds and butterflies in her backyard, and had a passion for gardening.
Ruth Ann is survived by her devoted spouse, LeRoy Fahey; sister Lela Rodgers; daughters and sons-in-law Sheila and Jim Doherty, Leann and Eric Peterson, Mary Ann and Mark Alaniz; grandchildren Courtney Peterson, Megan and Jordan Womack, Justin and Ceara Alaniz, Alexandria Alaniz, Delaney Doherty, Allison Peterson; great-grandchildren Noah, Avery, Kayla, London, Brinley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents T.C. and Bobbie Lee Delaney; sister Clemmie Inscore and brother Neal Delaney; grandson Brandon Peterson LFD #3594; and great-granddaughter Olivia Peterson.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Blessing Funeral Home, 401 Elm St, Mansfield, Texas 76063. Interment services will take place at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211, at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 27th. Attendees are requested to arrive at the cemetery between 9:45 am and 10:00 am. If you would like to make a donation, memorials to FireFighterCancerSupport.org are suggested.
For those that have never attended an interment ceremony at the National Cemetery, we will be staged in a holding area and then escorted to the committal shelter a few minutes prior to our scheduled time. We will only have thirty minutes for a brief ceremony. We will all depart directly from the shelter as actual visitation of her grave will not be available until after 4:00 pm that afternoon. More details will be provided regarding the staging areas once we receive those details. Cemetery Map
