Roy L. Lewis died peacefully at the age of 84 on March 25, 2019 at his home in Rendon, Texas surrounded by his family.
Visitation is Thursday, March 28th at Blessing Funeral Home off Elm St. in Mansfield, Texas from 6pm to 8pm. Service is on Friday, March 29th at 10am in the same location.
Roy was born on January 12, 1935 in Thorp Springs, Texas to B.B. and Virgie Lewis. He grew up on the Black Ranch and the Slocum Ranch with four brothers and three sisters. It was here he learned the values of hard work and family. Roy helped work the ranch but also attended Keene Public School where he became a tennis champion. Roy married Gloria Annette Bryant from Everman, Texas on December 23, 1955. They were faithfully married for 63 years. They raised four sons on a farm in Rendon, Texas passing down the values of hard work and family. Roy served his country in the National Guard for thirteen years but was also an accomplished fabricator and welder. In his spare time, he raised all manner of farm animals and loved to garden. Roy was a devout Christian who supported the Church of Christ and helped establish several congregations. Roy’s family pays tribute to him and will miss him greatly.
Roy is survived by his wife, Annette Lewis and four sons, Randy, Steven, Michael, and Kevin. Seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
