MANSFIELD -- Roger Dean Hall passed on April 19,2016 in Mansfield Texas.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Mansfield Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome.
Roger was born September 26, 1944 at his grandparent's home in Mansfield, Texas. He spent all of his early years in Mansfield. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1963 and pursued his higher education at TCJC and Texas Wesleyan University. Qualifying 1A for the draft, he chose to enlist in the Marine Corp in 1965. Roger, an expert marksman, rose to the rank of Sergeant and was crew chief of an amphibian troop transporter in Company C, 5th AmTrac Battalion, 5th Marine Division, until his discharge in 1969. He carried the emotional scars of the Vietnam War for the remainder of his life.
Our brother worked for LTV Aerospace, the Ben E. Keith Company, ABDick Company, and as an independent contractor. He took great pride in the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Texas Longhorns. Roger was a fan of these teams to such an extent that he could not watch them on television out of fear of a possible loss by the team.
To us, Roger was most special. He was loving, quirky, and generous. He was an all-around good guy. A man he was, but Roger retained his wonderful boyish charms. We loved him dearly and will carry him in our hearts forever.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Lee Otis Hall and his mother, Ysleta (Renfro) Hall.
He is survived by his oldest brother, Ronald Hall and wife, Gwyn of Corpus Christi, Jerry Hall of Fort Worth, and Donna Hall Parrish and husband Larry, of Grapevine, Texas. Roger is also survived by four nieces, one nephew, one grandniece, two aunts, and many cousins.
