Roberta Ann Dolezilek Frost of Mansfield passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 after many years of declining health. Roberta was born in Topeka, KS on October 11, 1930. She was the daughter of Stanislaus Justin Dolezilek and Ann Catherine O'Donnell Dolezilek. She lived on a farm in Rossville, KS until her 8th grade when they moved "in to town" in Topeka. She graduated from Seaman High School class of 1948. She completed nurses training at the St. Mary's College/St. Francis Hospital Nursing School and then completed her anesthesia training at Case Western in Cleveland, Ohio in 1951. She was very proud to be a pioneer in the field of nurse anesthetists and worked actively giving anesthetics to patients until her retirement from the VA Hospital System in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1993.
She married Air Force Staff Sgt. James Dee Frost on October 10, 1953 in Topeka, KS. They lived an Air Force life together, raising a family and being stationed in Bermuda, then settling and retiring in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her work as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Roberta was a very active volunteer in a number of organizations. She was an officer of the Hamilton Twp. Band Boosters, a past national officer of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society (Groveport, Ohio), past officer of the Cancer Research Foundation of North Texas, member of St. Jude Catholic Church Catholic Women's Organization (Mansfield, Texas) and numerous craft, quilting and social clubs.
Roberta made no secret of the fact that her family and her faith were the most important things in her life. She made every sacrifice necessary to see to it that her kids were educated , happy and successful. She loved to brag about them, but it was nothing compared to when she started with her grandchildren. Just the thought of any of her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren brought a sparkle to her eyes and a smile to her face.
She was a huge baseball fan and the Texas Rangers were her favorite team. For years she never missed watching and scoring their games. She could have been the official team statistician or coach.
Roberta never missed Mass until recently when her health became so compromised. Even then she would watch a broadcast of the Mass on TV. She wants to thank her friends and Eucharistic Ministers from St. Jude for their visits, prayers and Holy Communion. She would also thank her home health nurses, therapists and aids and all the staff at Care of Excellence Home Health.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stan and Ann Dolezilek, and her son-in-law, Bill Godwin. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Jim Frost(Mansfield, TX); daughter, Sharon Godwin(Arlington, TX); Son, Mike Frost and wife, Rita(Phoenix, AZ); son, Patrick Frost and wife, Maritza(Orlando, FL); grandchildren, Nick Frost; Lindsey Horen and husband, Dave; Justin Godwin and wife, Jamie; Maxwell Frost; and Maria Frost; great-grandchildren Carter Horen and Lily Horen; and sister, Betty Holmes(Topeka, KS); nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research or Catholic Charities.
