Robert “Bob” Stine went to be with his Lord on April 21 at the age of 93. He and Mary Lou Stine had celebrated their 70th anniversary on February 2. Bob was born in Nebraska and lived in California for most of his early life until he joined the armed services in WWII. Besides serving in the reserves and in the Air Force in Korea and Viet Nam, he spent time as a California highway patrol officer, working for IBM, and earning several degrees in electrical engineering. As an Air Force family, Bob and Mary Lou and their sons David and Roger lived all over the US and in Hawaii before it was a state. Bob and Mary Lou moved from El Paso to Arlington in 1990 after their granddaughter Marianne was born. After the passing of Roger in 1991, the family settled in Mansfield in 1992. The couple moved to the Isle at Watercrest last June.
Bob loved his family, his church, college football, and his country. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Stine, granddaughter Marianne Stine, older brother Don Stine of California, and daughter-in-law Liz Stine. He was preceded in death by sons Roger and David, an older brother just after WWII, and his parents, Ida and Harry Stine.
Burial will be at the National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 28, with the service by his favorite pastor, Mike Ramsdell of First Methodist Mansfield.
