Robert E. Payne, 79, of Alvarado, TX passed away January 27, 2018.
Robert was a caring husband, proud father, and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a master diesel mechanic, heavy equipment operator, jack-of-all-trades expert handyman, Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout leader, and animal lover. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, camp, and just enjoy nature. He was also known as W5REP by many across the world who became acquainted with him over HAM radio waves.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years; Carol, his six children; Teree Nicholas, Robert Jordan, Steve Catron, Keith Jordan, Kevin Payne, and Kenny Payne, 17 grandchildren; Miranda, Mason, Colton, Emmadean, Charlie, Elie, Lucile, Madison, Cody, Kylie, Dallas, David, Elliana, Amy, Bradley, Daniel, Eric, and 3 great-grandchildren; Anthony, Helen, and Desiree, and too many friends to list.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 3001 Green Oaks in Arlington, TX at with a viewing at 10:00 AM and service to follow at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
