Heaven gained the sweetest angel on Monday, May 21st, 2018. Our dad, Robert Alexander Jackson was born on January 28, 1943 to Robert and Ethel Jackson in Canton, Ohio. He was the middle child of two brothers, Bill and Eddie Jackson. The family loaded up the car and moved to River Oaks….Texas that is….. in 1948. That is where dad discovered and fell in love with the game of baseball playing almost every day and night….well until it got dark. He made some wonderful friends there such as “Coach” Scott Parnell and Jane and Sandy Powell. When he graduated Tarleton State University, he got a job teaching and coaching at Mansfield High School from the early to late 70’s. That is where he met the “free spirited” Liz Russell. She gave him 2 beautiful daughters, Tifani and Emily who gave him two handsome son-in-laws, Brad Gaither and John Alley. With their help, they produced 5 grandchildren, Rylie, Brady, Ashley, Craig and Jaxon, affectionately upgrading his titles from Bobby, coach and dad to PAPPY.
Dad was such a kind and giving soul. He even took in a stray, Clayton Stacks and loved him as his own. His only arch nemesis and about the only thing that could make him mad were condiment packets. Dad was pretty much deaf except when he would watch sports on TV then he would yell at you for being too loud. He loved going to football games with his son-in-laws or with “Coach” Ken Barnett. He also loved watching baseball so much that he got a job working for the Ft. Worth Cats so that he could watch the games! He was the king of stupid knock knock jokes and if you called him you would probably hear him answer “Shagnasty’s Boat Dock.” Though he will definitely be missed, he would not want anyone to be sad about his departure. He is now walking and standing tall, watching every sport on the many TV’s surrounding him. Till we meet again daddy…Fly High.
