Richard Charles Mumme, better known as, “Skip”, passed onto Heaven on October 21, 2021, at the age of 82, peacefully in his home in Mansfield, Texas.
Skip was born on September 27, 1939 to Leon and Evelyn Mumme in Fredericksburg, Texas. After graduating from Fredericksburg High School, he went on to study history at the University of Texas at Austin.
Skip met his first wife, Mary Jane Behrend in High School they later wed in going on to have two sons, Troy and Douglas. Skip loved coaching his boys in sports and his provided to his family in his career as a Lutheran Minister.
Skip met his soulmate, Kellie, and they became married in 1985, welcoming her three son’s David, Tracy and Tony Kelly into his life, as his own children.
Skip traveled the world with the love of his life, Kellie. Together they have been on over 42 cruises, and visited 152 countries. He enjoyed watching UT football with family and passed that passion down to his sons and grandsons.
In 1989, Skip took a leap of faith and started PDQ Temporaries, a small staffing firm in Arlington, Texas. Skip’s legacy continues today as PDQ Staffing is led now by his sons, several daughter-in laws and grandchildren, as well as many others he would consider part of his family. His dream has helped thousands of Texans find jobs and develop life long careers. Skip’s was known for his compassion, mentorship, leadership and unique ability to develop quality relationships with his employees and clients. We are grateful for the years and life we were blessed to share with Skip and thankful for the encouragement Skip gave to all he met. Skip saw the value in each person and believed in the best of everyone. If you got to experience this, then you know the richness of his gift.
Skip was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn and father, Leon; His step-son Tony Kelly.
He is survived by his wife, Kellie Mumme; his two sons and daughter-in-law’s, Troy and Marina Mumme, and Doug and Marie Mumme; His two stepsons and their wife’s, David and Luana Kelly, Tracy and Shannon Kelly, and Bettina Kelly. Skip had seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and two adopted granddaughters, and seven great step-grandchildren.
Visitation for friends will be held on Monday, October 25th between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas The Worship of Celebration will begin on Tuesday, October 26th at 10:00 a.m. then on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Skip will be laid to rest besides in brother, Teddy, in Fredericksburg, Texas as he is laid to his final place of rest.
In lieu of flowers guest could make a donation in his name to St Jude's Children's hospital.
