Rex Sheppard

MANSFIELD -- Rex Garvin Sheppard, 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior early in the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012. Rex was born in Kerens on Oct. 16, 1919. He graduated from Blooming Grove High School in May 1939. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps on July 15, 1941, and served during World War II as a mechanic flight sergeant on B-17 bombers and was discharged from the service Nov. 20, 1945. Rex married Mary Jo Conatser on March 20, 1948. He was an ordained deacon of the First Baptist Church of Kennedale and member for more than 60 years. Rex was a master Mason, a past master of Deer Creek Masonic Lodge in Everman and a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Order. Survivors: Wife of 64-plus years, Mary Jo Sheppard; his son, Rex Gerald "Jerry" Sheppard; and sisters, Janie Sheppard and Erlene Peavler.
