Peggy Nell Webb

August 12, 1938 — December 22, 2016

Peggy Nell Hodges was born on August 12, 1938 and died on December 22, 2016. She was born at home in Mills County, Texas, to Wade Hoover and Viola Hodges. Peggy had one older brother, Marion Wade, and a younger sister, Mary Nan. Her family moved to Lampasas when she was young, and she attended school there, graduating from Lampasas High School in 1956. Following her graduation from high school, her family moved to Odessa, TX, where she met and married Lee Roy Webb in 1957.

Peggy and Lee Roy moved several times in the early years of their marriage due to Lee Roy’s work as a pipeline welder. They had two daughters, Susan Lee in 1962 and Cynthia Nan in 1964. When their daughters were toddlers, the family lived in Lubbock where they farmed cotton for about two years. Lee Roy then returned to pipeline welding and the family moved back to Odessa where Peggy’s parents and siblings still lived. They remained in Odessa until 1979 when they moved to Mansfield, TX, where they settled permanently.

Throughout the years of their marriage, Peggy often managed the children and home front alone as Lee Roy had to travel for pipeline work. She did so with grace, kindness and love, always putting her children first, encouraging and supporting them in all of their endeavors. She loved to sew and was always finding new outlets for her creativity. When her daughters were grown, she relished traveling with Lee Roy on his pipeline jobs and exploring the U.S. by his side. When they settled back down in Mansfield after his retirement, she cherished her church and the friends she made there.

Peggy is survived by her husband Lee Roy, whom she loved with complete devotion for 59 years, her two daughters and their husbands: Susan and Tim Potts, and Cindy and Thomas Hanes, 6 grandchildren: Ryan, Zachary and Joshua Potts, and Madeline, Rachel, and Maureen Hanes, her sister Mary Hodges Weaver, and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed beyond measure.
