Pedro “Pete” Gonzalez, 77, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 and was preceded in death by his parents, Macaria and Guadalupe Gonzalez, and two brothers, Ben Gonzalez and John Gonzalez.
Pete was born April 29th, 1940 in Rotan, Texas to a cotton farmer and homemaker. He grew up among a loving household with four siblings John Gonzalez, Maria Moreno, Ben Gonzalez, and Elena Christopher. In his high school years Pete’s family purchased a home on the “Northside” of Fort Worth where he attended Trimble Technical High School class of 1958. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Christine. After graduating he joined the Navy and held many distinguished posts including Mission Commander, Pentagon Personnel Officer, and War College Graduate. Upon retirement as a Lieutenant Commander, Pete’s drive for learning and growth continued. After earning a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and Masters in Business during his military career he later obtained a Paralegal and Nursing degree in which he practiced in this field in his early 60’s as a Registered Nurse. His thoughts were always about his four children Monica White, Daniel Gonzalez, Marcia Formby, and Mari Maldonado, assuring a college education and instilling high goals to success in any endeavor. He was a loving and pride-filled “Poppi” to his eight grandchildren Bethany, Colin, Audrey, Sydney, Natalie Jo, Myles, Aidan, and Reese. His talents were many, an extremely accomplished wood crafter who built toys, furniture, crosses and plaques that touched many people throughout his life. He had a deep faith in God and was inspired to spend hours writing poetry. His favorite past time was reading and logging binders full of notes which reinforced his ability to recall details and solve almost any math problem. His distinct enjoyment for creative solutions and fine details will be a memory held long in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Gonzalez of 56 years, his four children, eight grandchildren, two siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving relations.
