Patrick Layne Murray

June 18, 1952 — September 15, 2017

Patrick Layne Murray, 65, of Arlington, TX passed away on September 15, 2017, in Pilot Grove, Missouri on a hunting trip with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Patrick was born on June 18, 1952 in Dallas, TX and was raised by his mother and father, Laverne and Bob Gelnett. He graduated from Carter High School in 1970. He loved hunting, golfing, and music, but more than anything he loved being with his family and friends. He could just about fix or put together anything he set his mind to, but unfortunately could never put together a good dance move. His greatest joy was being a husband, a father, a grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved talking to people and never met a stranger. He was affectionately called, “grumpy old man” by his loved ones, but was genuinely one of the kindest and most generous people anyone would meet. He loved the Lord deeply and is now rejoicing at the right hand of his Savior.

Patrick is preceded in death by his mother, Laverne and father, Bob.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gay Murray, and Chris Mobley, Windy Mobley, Taylor Mobley, Mackenzie Mobley, Levi Johnson, Rob Murray, Summer Murray, Todd Mobley, Johan Tavares, Jonathan Mobley Sr., Courtney Mobley, Jonathan Mobley Jr., RaeLynn Mobley, Meghan Murray, Nancy Burkham, Doug Burkham, Deb Burkham, Paul Burkham, Kim Burkham, and Cindy Bennet.

In lieu of flowers or gifts for the family, it would be Pat’s desire for his daughter, Meghan, to be able to complete her 11 month mission trip through the World Race. Therefore, the family requests donations to be made towards the funding of this trip. To donate use the following link http://meghanmurray.theworldrace.org/ click the "Donate" bar
