Patrick J. Kirlin

April 5, 1930 — August 12, 2024

Mansfield

Patrick Joseph Kirlin, aged 94, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024. He was born April 5, 1930 to Clare (Lukegord) Kirlin and Philip Kirlin in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Pat graduated from Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, Nebraska. After 2 years of college, Pat enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) in November, 1951. While serving, he received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Pat was based at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas where he met the love of his life, Palma (Pam) Guerino, who was also stationed there. They were married within 6 months. He met his in-laws for the first time the weekend of their wedding. On October 10, 1953, Pat and Pam exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony held in Herkimer, New York.

After Pat completed his 4 years of service with the Air Force, he returned to college and graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1957. Throughout his lifetime, Pat remained a staunch supporter of all branches of the military and their various charities.

Later Pat was accepted into the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated in 1961. He moved his family (Pam and 4 children at the time) to Dallas, Texas for his internship at Dallas Osteopathic Hospital. He had several offices during his practice as a family physician in Oak Cliff, Duncanville, Grand Prairie, Dallas, Arlington and Waco. Early in his practice he spent many hours making house calls in the evenings and on weekends. Throughout his career he held various positions at several hospitals, including Chief of Staff.

Pat and Pam were devout Catholics and were members of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Parish in Oak Cliff for 30 years before moving to Mansfield; where they were members of St. Jude Catholic Church beginning in June of 1992.

They had a love for traveling state side and also abroad especially on the Irish and Caribbean cruises.

Pat will always be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, extended family, friends and colleagues. He cherished every moment with them. He will also be remembered for his kindness, generosity, BIG heart, humor and for being the LIFE OF THE PARTY.

Pat will be deeply missed by his children, Gary and Fran Kirlin, Mike Kirlin, Patrick and Jennifer Kirlin, Terianne and Tim Higgins, Linda Wilson, Marianne Foley and David Kirlin; but his love and light will continue to shine through his children, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Pat may no longer be with us in person, but his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to any Catholic charity, any branch of the military, or your local first responders.
