Oscar Carl Bell

December 18, 1954 — September 12, 2022

Oscar Carl Bell, age 67 of Burleson, passed away in his home on September 12th, 2022. Carl was born to Billie Killough and Oscar Bell on December 18th, 1954, in McKinney TX. He graduated class of ‘73 from South Grand Prairie High School and went on to a career with Excelon Power Corporation, where he worked for 36 years until his retirement on June 28, 2018. Carl married the love of his life Barbara Coomes in November of 1987. They shared 35 years together and raised four sons.

Later, Carl became a doting grandpa to seven grandchildren. Carl was an avid hunter, fixer of anything and everything, and a proud member of the NHRA 200 mile per hour club.

He is preceded in death by his father Oscar Bell, his brother Charles Bell, and granddaughter Aubrey Bell.
He leaves behind to carry on his legacy and memory with his loving wife Barbara Bell, mother Billie Bell, sons Aron Williams and wife Megan, Nick Bell and wife Kacey, Matt Bell and wife Kathy, and Chase Williams and wife Laura; grandchildren Nash Williams, Ebenezer Bell, Emma Bell, Matthew Bell, Elizabeth Bell, Bennett Bell, and Easton Williams; siblings Howard Bell and wife Rose, Carolyn Bell and partner John, Melinda Arauco and husband Rodolfo, and Roger Bell and wife Sindy.

Carl had many hobbies that he enjoyed over the years. He was the 1988 Pro-Stock drag racing World Champion, loved hunting and sharing his love of outdoors with his sons and others. He enjoyed many road trips on his motorcycle with his most recent trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats. His passion for celebrating the 4th of July and sharing fireworks with family members and hundreds of friends, was a 20-plus year obsession. One of the latest joys for Carl, since he and Barbara retired, was delivering ‘Meals On Wheels’ where he thoroughly enjoyed building relationships with those they delivered to. Retirement allowed Carl and Barbara to do whatever they wanted and whenever they wanted to do it.

A memorial service will be held at Mansfield First United Methodist Church on Friday September 16th, at 1:00 PM. In-lieu of flowers donations can be made on Carl’s behalf to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County.
