Opal "Laverne" Gable, 84, of Aledo, departed this life, comfortably, to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
Born on September 19, 1933 in Thalia, Texas, she married Glen Gable and spent the majority of her life in Arlington.
She knew every street in town and never missed a garage sale. She could bargain with the best of them and it showed with her being a staple at the Mansfield Antique Mall for 23 years. She was known as the lady with booths that stretched across the back wall.
She loved watching her miniature horses, collecting carousel horses and a huge selection of roosters. She was a 47 year member of the Mansfield Riding Club and NARC & SP. Even though she didn't ride in the arena, she was always working hard in the concession stand.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 2-4:00 P.M. with services on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., both at Blessing Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mansfield Cemetery.
Laverne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen, her parents Opal and Dave Shultz and all of her siblings; Carl, Norman, Billy Doyle and Louis.
Laverne is survived by her son Ricky and his wife Cecilia, along with their daughter Marti and her husband Stacy Payne, their children Macy and Wesley as well and Laverne's daughter Glenda and her husband Mike Edmonson.
