Nila Frizzell (nee McClure) passed away July 21, 2023 after a short illness. She was born in Vivian, Louisiana on May 21, 1939, the only child of Bascom and Mae McClure. After moving many times with her family during her grade school years, as her father worked in the oil fields, she would ultimately graduate from Haynesville High School in Haynesville, Louisiana in 1957. She then attended business school in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduating she worked at a large oil company in Shreveport. During this time she reconnected with a former high school classmate, Jerry Frizzell. They wed on April 19, 1962. Jerry (passed away 2002) was an engineer who worked mostly for General Electric and they moved frequently during the first 20 years of marriage. In the fall of 1963 their first of three sons, Mike Frizzell, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Today he is a veterinarian in Arlington, Texas. He and his wife Anndi have two daughters, Allyson and Valerie. Following a move to Irving, Texas, their second son, Jason Frizzell, was born in winter of 1966. After another move, back to Fort Wayne, Indiana, their third son Scott Frizzell was born in winter 1969. Scott is a chiropractor in Mansfield, Texas and he and his wife Bonnie have two children, Nick and Marley.
Nila had a wonderful life as a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved watching sports (the Texas Rangers in particular) and collecting glass figurines. She was a frequent participant in fantasy sports with her family, and a regular champion in various leagues. Her main passion in her later years, however, was her grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them and loved them very much. She was a generous soul and beautiful person. She will be greatly missed.
