Ned Foster passed away in Mansfield on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 surrounded by loving family and friends.
Ned was born in 1935 in Dallas County, west of Cedar Hill, to Albert and Lois Foster. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1953. After high school he joined the US Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was a jump school instructor, and in the 11th Airborne Military Police. Ned retired from Lone Star Gas Company after 38 years of service. In the early 1970’s he was one of the founders of the Mansfield Girls Softball Association, which still continues today. Ned enjoyed fishing, reading western novels, trips to the casino and the Texas Rangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Gavin Foster.
Survivors include his Loving wife of 56 years, Anita; sister Ethel Rutland; daughters Nedda Spicer, Kelly Schmidt and husband Steve, Karen Ryan and husband Billy; grandchildren Taylor Spicer, Clinton Foster and wife Abby, Kelsie Foster, Clayton Ryan and wife Di, Camille Ryan, and Daniel Ayres; great-grandson Caden Ryan; daughter-in-law Melissa Foster, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
