Modina Elizabeth Burns was promoted to her eternal reward on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas. Born on November 7, 1931 to Ewell and Rosalie Conklin in Tuscola, Texas. Elizabeth was the oldest of six children. Elizabeth had a passion for education. After graduating from the University of Houston, for 21 years, she taught Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades in Damon, Texas. Her Facebook page lists many tributes telling of the impact made upon her students. Elizabeth’s love for Christ was first and foremost in her life. Elizabeth loved her family. She is survived by her husband of 61 ½ years, W.J. (Bill) Burns; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Vickie Burns; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Bruce Clark; 5 grandchildren … Jason, Michael, and Aaron Burns and Amanda and Matthew Clark; and 4 great-grandchildren … Joey, Gavin, Ella, and Ben Burns. She is also survived by a sister Nelda Pearce and a brother Clayton Conklin.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, from 6 - 8 PM and the service Wednesday at 11 AM at Blessing Funeral home in Mansfield. Interment will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
