ARLINGTON -- Michael William Thomas, 56, was called by our Lord on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Hawkins' Cemetery, 5301 N. Hwy. 287 Access Road, Arlington, 76017, Fr. Jim Gigliotti, TOR officiating. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield.
Mike was born in Roswell, N.M., on Aug. 20, 1958, to Chuck Thomas and Shirley Tehahe. He graduated from William Tennent High School in Warminster, Pa., and attended Kansas State University. He served honorably in the Army for 12 years both in the U.S. and in Korea, where he studied and became an airframe and powerplant mechanic. Mike enjoyed working on and was very knowledgeable on all makes and models of helicopters and other aircraft.
Mike loved to travel, deep sea fish, fly small engine planes, golf and spending time with his family, especially his much-loved dogs, Sammy Boy, Doc and Sandy. He was married to his best friend, Susan, for 24 years.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Thomas; grandparents, Delbert and Elnora Thomas, William Sullivan, Jean "Nene" Gingg; uncle, John Thomas; in-laws, Ed and Connie Meffen; and his beloved Sammy Boy.
Survivors: He is survived by Susan Thomas; mother, Shirley Tehahe; sisters, Jenice Birondo, Stella Ralph and husband, Cliff; uncle, James Thomas and wife, Joan; niece, Alexandria Stevens and husband, Jason; nephew, Ronald Sapp and wife, Neta; great-nieces, Lily and Violet; his dear Doc and Sandy; and numerous cousins and friends.
