Michael Joe Smaltz passed away peacefully at his home on November 16, 2022 in Mansfield, Texas. Michael was born April 7th, 1967 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Frank Walter Smaltz and Nancy Lou (Stern) Smaltz. Michael graduated from Nazareth Area High School in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Michael spent most of his career working as a plant manager in the plastics industry. He spent over ten years with PowerFoam LLC in Midlothian.
Michael was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed watching football with his family. Michael was also a football player himself in his younger years. Michael loved country music, especially George Strait, and was quite the fisherman. He loved preparing meals for Sunday fun days with the family. He was not an idle man, but a very hard worker. He was always working on something be it helping someone or a project around the house. He was Grandpa to his grandchildren, a doting grandparent who was a well-known pushover where they were concerned. Michael was an honest, upstanding man, direct and to the point. You always knew where you stood with Michael.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Frank Walter Smaltz; brother, Frank Jr; grandparents, Elton and Carrie Stern and Guy and Kathryn Smaltz.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Nancy Smaltz; daughter Amanda Zwieryznski and husband Shawn; grandchildren, Taylor and Tatum; son, Jonathon Smaltz and fiancé Natalie; brothers, Daniel Guy Smaltz and wife Fran, and Eric Wade Smaltz and fiancé Lisa; and sister-in-law, Janine. Michael is also survived by his grand dogs, Sugar and Fancy.
