Mary Beth Dodson passed away on February 24, 2015 very peacefully and surrounded by her three beloved Children.
Mary Beth was born on July 11, 1937 in Estacada, Tx to Dessie and Bailey Brown. She graduated from Idalou High School went to work at Texas Commerce Bank, where she met her husband Monte Dodson. They were married in 1967 and lived a full and adventurous life together moving many places before settling in Lubbock, Tx. She later moved to Mansfield, TX to be closer to family, where she became a member of the First Methodist Church in Mansfield. She loved going to church, spending time with family and helping others. Her daily Mantra, one that she adhered to almost exactly, was: 'Believe in yourself, Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, and Leave the Rest to God...'
Mary Beth is survived by her sister, Martha Brown of Mansfield, 3 children, Clay Brown of Arlington, Derek (and wife Laura) Dodson of Mansfield, and Denise Dodson of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Richard Verdine, Darrell Verdine, Krystal Bryan and Kaitlyn Dodson. She had 2 great-granddaughters, Britney and Mandy Verdine, and one soon-to-be great-grandson whom she was very much looking forward to meeting.
Her final wishes were to be cremated and joined with Monte's ashes in the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico overlooking the Alamogordo desert - a place they both loved dearly.
A memorial will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 27th at the First Methodist Church in Mansfield, 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Mary Beth's name.
