Mary Wammack Denman

September 2, 1938 — December 3, 2022

Mary Wammack Denman, 84, of Fort Worth, was peacefully called home while surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Mary was welcomed into this world on September 2, 1938 by her parents Allie Mae and Oscar Glen Wammack. Her childhood was spent on the dairy farm with her sibilings, where she prepared the cows for milking from sun up to sun down. As she grew, her various job titles included receptionist and Braum's manager, but nothing was more meaningful than "mother". Despite being told she'd never conceive, twin daughters Carolyn and Marilyn had other plans. Raising her girls in Bedford, Texas, she was very involved in her daughters' lives between being a Blue Bird Leader and PTA mom. Eight years later, she was blessed with her baby Jacquelyn Rene, with whom she shared a special bond.

Her family continued to grow with the birth of her first grandchildren, Amanda and Dustin, for which she was officially appointed the title "Ice Cream Grandma." Soon after, grandchildren Drew and April completed her family until youngest granddaughter, Lauren was born.

One of her favorite memories was being told she was going to be a great grandmother. Her great grandchildren include Bennett and Walker Allen as well as Levi and Austin Tharp.

Her love for her family was immeasurable as she held many titles, such as daughter, sister, mother, aunt, great aunt, grandmother (Ice Cream Grandma and Maw Maw), great grandmother, and friend. Her commitment to her family compelled her to organize and host yearly Christmas celebrations for almost twenty years for her extended family. Spending time with her family during the holidays filled her heart. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, particularly her famous chicken and dumplings and Swiss steak. And, of course, gambling at the Cherry Popper.

She recently expressed that her life, though full of obstacles and hardships, was full of joy, love, and family, and that she couldn't have asked for a more fulfilling life. She was preceded in death by her parents Allie Mae and Oscar Glen; siblings Victoria Mae, Joe Lawrence, Glenda Dean, Judy Elaine, and Jimmy Glen, whom she was ready to join. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Tharp, Marilyn Couch (Lester), and Jacquelyn Rene (Louis); grandchildren Amanda Allen (Matthew), Dustin Tharp (Molly), Drew Tharp (Courtney), April Hernandez (Geraldo), Lauren Ugalde, and Lance Ugalde; great grandchildren Bennett and Walker Allen, and Levi and Austin Tharp; her aunt Helen Sowards, and many loved nieces and nephews.
