Martin L. "Marty" Cloin Sr
March 19, 1936 — December 3, 2020
On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Martin L. Cloin, Sr. loving husband of Jan and father of Marty Cloin, Jr, went to be with our Heavenly Father at the age of 84.
Martin, Marty to many, was born on March 19, 1936 in Princeton, Indiana to Luther and Gladys (Hicks) Cloin. He graduated from Chrisney High School and began working for Gulf Oil Company, Marty and Jan (Kirchgessner) were married in 1954 in Rockport, Indiana and had one son, Marty Jr. He was known for his strong and faithful work ethics and became Real Estate Director for Golf Oil Company in the Dallas, Texas area. Prior to that, Marty enjoyed watching Marty, Jr. participate in several sports and organized the first Booster Club for the Wyoming Park High School in Wyoming, MI. He served enthusiastically as President of the Booster Club in the early 1970’s. After 29 years with Gulf Oil Company in the Dallas and Houston areas, he retired only to be sought out by Diamond Shamrock Corporation where he worked in the San Antonio area for 18 years and then retired for good.
Marty was preceded in death by his father, Luther and mother Gladys, and sister, Sue (Mathes).
He is survived by his wife, Janet Rae of 66 years; son Marty and daughter-in-love, Sharon Brittain; grandchildren., Leslie Rae and Martin Bryan; granddaughter-in-love Jessica (Rupp) and two great-grandchildren, Kaden Ray and Capri Brittain; sister, Ann (Huser) and husband Harold; several nieces and nephews. Many friends and relatives will miss him greatly.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas.
