Marshall Monroe Thompson Jr., 94, of Mansfield, left this earth peacefully November 29, 2023. Monroe was born in Mansfield on January 28, 1929 to Della and Marshall Thompson Sr. He married his wife; Nina Faye Thompson and they spent almost 76 years together before her passing in 2022. Monroe came from humble beginnings and he was a self-made man. His grandson describes him as the hardest working person he’s ever known. Despite many obstacles, he never made excuses and he never stopped. He sacrificed for and loved his family dearly. A farmer his whole life and also an aircraft mechanic; Monroe spent his whole life working so he could provide for the people he loved.
He was truly one of a kind. A man of great integrity, stern, brutally honest, but always fair. He was also funny with a great “George Bush” laugh. He could effortlessly deliver a line and always had a full head of hair. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him most.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina Faye; his son, Billy Gerald Thompson; and his siblings, Sara Sue Thompson and Mack Thompson. He leaves behind Granddaughters, Brandy Rene Proctor and Misty Faye Ahmed; Grandson, Billy Thompson, and three Great Grandchildren.
