Marion Loretta Smith-Pate

September 21, 1929 — April 27, 2017

Marion Loretta Smith-Pate, 87, of Mansfield, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 27 2017 peacefully of natural causes. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Graveside services at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.

Marion was born in the town of Aurora, New York on September 21, 1929. Later moving to California and marrying Joel Pate in 1952 in Las Vegas. She was known for her humor and wit that she kept until the very end.Two sons were born, Loney Pate in 1961 and Luke Pate in 1968. Moving to Texas in 1980 from California she enjoyed many things,even taking up painting in 2002 and having never painted before, produced 27 paintings in all. In her own words "It's been a wonderful life!"

Marion was preceded in death by her husband Joel on September 11, 1997.

Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Loney Pate of Tampa, Florida and Luke Pate of Mansfield,Texas; sisters, Helen Belter of Denver,CO and Carol Cuthberson of Cleveland,TN; Aunt Alice Mayo of Plano,TX; and several nieces and nephews.
