Margie Louise Long Wheeler was escorted across the timeline to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. She was born to Grace Christine Hogue Long and E.F. Long in Grapevine, Texas on June 28, 1935. Margie grew up and worked on a farm in Webb. She and her brother lost their mother at a very young age. After her father remarried her step-mother, Dorothy Long, Margie helped raise her younger siblings. She was very close to her siblings and they maintained that close bond throughout their lives.
Margie met her beloved husband, Willie Wheeler, at the Methodist Church in Britton. They were married on July 9, 1955. Together they made their home in Bisbee; opening Willie’s Salvage, which they operated until she retired at the age of 65.
She accepted the Lord at age 25 in Bisbee Baptist Church. Later in life she was faithful to Oakdale Baptist Church where Margie and Willie served faithfully. Margie loved her Lord and served Him with everything she possessed within her.
She was an avid reader, who loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a wonderful wife and mother and later Nanny to her family, with whom she was devoted. She was remarkably generous and always willing to help those in need. She touched many, many people’s lives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willie Wheeler, her parents E.F Long and Grace Christine Hogue Long, stepmother Dorothy Long, brother James Long, and sister Linda Hanson. She is survived by her sister Lois Jaynes, brother Lee Long, daughter Linda (Jack) Norris, son Richard “Rick” Wheeler (Julie), grandsons Jason Norris (Jenn Sherman), Josh Norris (Rebecca Meggs), granddaughter Brandee Mathews (Kris), grandson Gordan Shaw, Furry grandchild Kona, great-grandchildren Joel, Josiah and Jared Norris, Joel Weiss, Kaylee and Ty Mathews, Austin Shaw, and great great-grandchild Jeremiah Norris.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening May 30, 2023, at Blessing Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00. a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Blessing Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, Wednesday May 31, 2023 at 10:00AM, with burial to follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery.
