Mabel C. Varrichio

January 26, 1937 — December 20, 2023

Mabel Catherine Varrichio (known by her friends as “Mae”), age 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior December 20, 2023. Mae was born to George Spinelli and Louise Spinelli on January 26, 1937 in Astoria Queens, New York. At the age of 11, Mae met Angelo “Vic” Varrichio at a park bench in Astoria which started a 70+ year continuous love affair that consummated in marriage in 1957. In 1956, Vic enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and for 21 years Mae devoted this season of her life loving and supporting him and her family through two tours overseas and eleven family moves. In addition to Mae’s devotion to family, she served as a civil servant for the United States Government in several roles for the United States Navy and Marine Corps. She had an unwavering commitment to public service leaving behind a legacy of hard work and loyalty. She retired from Civil Service after honorably serving over twenty years. Vic and Mae chose Arlington, Texas to be their retirement home and lived there from 1977 until their passing.

Mae will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She relished in holiday family events where she spent days preparing the holiday meal and unselfishly making sure everyone was taken care of before she sat down to eat. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. The last few years of her life she was cared for at Mansfield Medical Lodge where she was known and loved by all there. She was considered to be the life of the party laughing and dancing during the musical events. We know today she is in heaven laughing and dancing with her two favorite men Vic and Jesus.

There will be a private family service to celebrate her life on January 11, 2024, after which her remains will be placed alongside Vic’s at the DFW National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, formed after 9/11, that supports families of fallen veterans and first responders. Web site: https://tunnel2towers.org .
