“Weary of reading obituaries noting someone’s courageous battle with death, Lisa would want it known that she died as a result of being stubborn, refusing to follow doctors’ orders and raising hell for more than six decades.
Lisa Anne Burt Thompson Mitchell, 61, went to be with the lord on Monday, February 5th, 2018. She would have liked it known that her work here is done. She received a call, the sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This endeavor comes with a huge welcome bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new pursuit takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, and singing to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. The food is delicious and you never gain an ounce.
Lisa was adored from birth, always loving and caring of her friends and family. She was known as the mother hen, invariably doting and nurturing those lucky enough to be around her. Her life led her on many great paths. She married her first love, Kenneth Thompson, and father of her child, her baby angel, Amye Amanda Thompson, both of whom sadly preceded her in death. Her second life started when she met her husband, Richard Mitchell. The couple experienced their share of ups and downs in their nine years of marriage but always held together and showed the rest of us what marriage vows truly mean. She loved being with family, playing games, and visiting, or just relaxing at home with Richard, enjoying their beloved animals.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Amye Amanda Thompson, father John Edward Burt Jr, mother Faye Iola Burt, and brother John Edward Burt III. She is survived by her husband, Richard Dale Mitchell Jr, stepson Richard Dale Mitchell III, Sister Amye Burt Patel, niece Devan Brianne Burt, nephew John Bradon Burt, aunt Jeanine Cobb and various cousins.
We want to let her know that we will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends; that we are so grateful the family was able to gather one last time Saturday to play games, visit and looking back, to say goodbye.
We invite you to join us and celebrate together this Saturday, February 10th at Central Baptist Church in Mansfield Tx at 2:00 PM.”
