Lee Roy Webb of Mansfield passed away on August 26, 2022, in the hospice unit of Arlington
Memorial Hospital, due to complications following a head injury suffered in a fall. Mr. Webb
was 89, having been born in Bridge, Idaho, on August 20, 1933, to Virgil Webb and Leola Counts
Webb, the third of their 11 children.
Lee Roy met and married Peggy Hodges in Odessa, TX in 1957; they were married for 59 years
until Peggy’s death in 2016. They had two daughters, Susan Lee Webb Potts and Cynthia Nan
Webb Hanes. Lee Roy spent his career as a pipeline fabrication welder and was a proud
member of the Local 798 Pipeliner’s Union for 53 years. It was hard, dangerous work, but he
loved it and all the people he worked with through the years. He traveled the country working
on various jobs, coming home on weekends every chance possible. His family and friends knew
him as a man who could fix anything, and he loved spending time in his huge backyard shop.
All 6 of his grandchildren grew up in Tarrant County and have wonderful memories of his
creative use of the lawn mower to pull the wagon train down the street, camping together at
Thanksgiving, help on school projects, and most of all, his wonderful stories of life. One never
knew whether he was starting off with a true story or a tall tale that would end in a terrifically
funny joke.
Lee Roy was predeceased by his parents, Virgil and Leola, his brothers Buddy, Orville, Olan,
Marvin and O’dell, his sisters Margaret, Arlene and Erma, and his wife Peggy. He is survived by
his sisters Freda and Lynda, daughter Susan and her husband Tim Potts, daughter Cindy and her
husband Thomas Hanes, Jr., his six grandchildren: Ryan Potts, Zachary Potts and his wife
Megan, Joshua Potts, Madeline Hanes, Rachel Hanes and her husband Isaac Gonzalez, Maureen
Hanes, and three great-grandchildren: Alaric, Mackenly and Ezra May. He also leaves behind
countless nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends; he will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at First Baptist
Church Mansfield, 1800 E. Broad Street, Mansfield, TX, 76063.
