Laurie Gillespie Baughman, 65, of Mansfield, Texas passed away on December 27th, 2024. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 8th, 1959 to parents J.W. Davis & Barbara Allcorn Davis. Laurie graduated from Mansfield High School and was so proud to be a member of the graduating class of 1978. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Mansfield.
While Laurie had many roles, the one she cherished the most was that of “Mom” to her 4 children- Dustin A.G. (42), Jan Taylor (35), John Davis (34), Jameson Parker (33) and “LaLa” to her 4 grandchildren- Collin, Gauge, Kallie, & Benjamin.
Laurie was known to be a very talented professional as she built several successful businesses, worked in economic development for the City of Mansfield, led a successful mayoral campaign while living in Longview, and held a long-time career in accounting.
Not only was Laurie passionate about her relationship with her children and grandchildren but she had a great and active relationship with her parents, siblings, cousins, and friends. She also took particular pride in caring for her nieces and nephews.
She derived great joy daily from listening to and singing her favorite songs, spending time with her beloved dogs, bird watching in her backyard, looking at and planting flowers, eating great Mexican food, watching sports and supporting those that she loved.
Laurie is survived by her parents Barbara & Eugene Parker, her aunt and uncle Betty & Richard Miller, her children Dustin Clark, Jan Gillespie, John Gillespie & wife Jade, and Jameson Gillespie & wife Devan. Her grandchildren, Collin Smith, Gauge Gillespie, Kallie Gillespie, and Benjamin Gillespie. Her brother Joe Davis, her sisters Valerie Hinton (husband Mike Hinton) and Stacy Fanning (husband Mike Fanning). And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
Laurie’s funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday January 4th at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, TX. Visitation will be at 5:30pm-7:30pm on Friday January 3rd at Blessing Funeral Home.
Everyone should know: Laurie loved fiercely and gave everything that she had to those that she loved. She wanted nothing more than for those around her to feel loved and accepted. The warmth that she provided will be greatly & forever missed by those that love her!
