Kevin Hathorn

July 23, 1966 — June 12, 2023

Charles Kevin Hathorn, 56 of Mansfield, passed away on June 12, 2023, at home with his wife. Kevin was born on July 23, 1966, to Mary Summers Donaldson and Cecil Charles Hathorn in San Antonio, Texas.
Kevin married his beloved wife, Kelly Hathorn, on September 21, 2002, in Kennedale, Texas and together they raised their eight children. Kevin was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and later Poppy and Pop Pop to his grandchildren. He loved all of his children equally.

He was easy-going and patient and loved unconditionally. When he loved, he loved with all his heart. Family was his priority above all else and he loved his dogs. His even keeled temperament made him easy to talk to and he often stepped in as the go-between for the children to Kelly.

He enjoyed playing softball and played with many teams including the Outlaws and Beer 30 where he was known as the “Kelvinator”. He also enjoyed playing darts. He was an exceptionally talented artist and loved making things with his hands. He loved his hot chocolate milk, candy, especially junior mints and gummy bears, and bacon. He adored his children and grandchildren sharing many special bonds with each of them – including taking them to Ranger games, Kinsler’s world-famous brownies, trips to the “Dirty Clean” aka Dairy Queen for ice cream, debates over whose side of the bed it was, and arts and crafts.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Donaldson, and his beloved dogs, Mercedes, Bentley and Beamer.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kelly Hathorn; father, Cecil Charles Hathorn of Little Rock, Arkansas; children, Blake Hathorn and wife Nicole of Arlington, Caleb Self and wife Mary of Grayford, Tyler Hathorn and wife Karen of Joshua, Alexandria “Lexi” Herrin of Burleson, and Lauren Simon and husband Brennan of Mansfield; step-children, Joshua Rhodes and wife Jennifer of Forney, Rachel Kelley and husband J.K. of Flower Mound, and Sarah Miller and husband Ronnie of Burleson; grandchildren, Sophie Hathorn, Jaxon Hathorn, Carson Self, Leslie Self, Sienna Simon, Brandon Herrin, Jacob Rhodes, Brooklyn Rhodes, Katie Rhodes, Aria Rhodes, Carter Rhodes, Asher Lassetter, Titus Kelley, Evelyn Kelley, Rhett Kelley, Londyn Ramons, Kinsler Miller, and Maddux Miller; sister, Juanita Hampton and husband Mike; Aunt, Kathleen; Uncle, Dubby Choice Summers and wife Waynelle; cousin, Robbie Thomas; dear friend, Bucky Welch; beloved dogs, Tahoe and Daisey Mae; and numerous extended family members and friends.
