Kenneth Alonzo Ross, a vibrant and charismatic soul, was born on August 4, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas. He left this world September 30, 2024, but his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Kenneth’s educational journey began with his graduation from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, where he began to cultivate the vibrant personality that would define his life. His love for laughter and joy became a defining feature, drawing friends and family close. Kenneth lived a life rich with experiences, marked by his successful career in sales for Hearst Magazines. Known for his larger-than-life personality and ability to light up any room, he was known as a gifted storyteller, weaving tales with a charm that captivated audiences and left everyone wanting more.
Outside of work, Kenneth indulged in a variety of hobbies. He found joy in playing golf, enjoyed the thrill of gambling, and took great pleasure in strumming his guitar. Kenneth was a passionate animal lover, especially adoring dogs. These interests not only reflected his spirited nature but also provided avenues for creativity and relaxation—elements that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. His loyalty and love extended beyond family as he was a devoted and proud member of The Chuck Wagon Gang -of Odessa, a testament to his love for connection and camaraderie.
He is survived by his loving children, Christi Parker, Amy Hixon, and Greg Ross who carry forward his legacy with pride. Kenneth was also a doting grandfather to Jessica, Tiffany, Tanner, Jacob, Lucas, and Olivia, and found immense joy in being a great-grandfather to Addison, Carson, Aubrey, and Tinsley. His brother, David Ross, also survives him, holding dear the memories they forged together.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jo Ross; his mother, Olena Fay Ross; his father, Adolphus Alonzo Ross; and his sister, Debbie Messmer. Each of these individuals held a special place in his heart, and their absence is felt deeply by all who remain.
A visitation to honor Kenneth's memory and for friends and family will gather to share stories of his life will be held on October 3, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blessing Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel in Mansfield, Texas. A memorial service will follow on October 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM also to be held at Blessing Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel.
In the lives he touched and the hearts he warmed, Kenneth Alonzo Ross will forever remain a beloved figure—a storyteller, a loyal friend, a proud father and grandfather, and a shining light whose spirit continues to inspire.
