August 3, 1934 — July 5, 2013

Kay Fay Wexler (August 3, 1934 - July 5, 2013)
Kay Fay Wexler died peacefully on July 5, 2013 in Mansfield, TX.  Kay was born in Wildsville, LA on August 3, 1934 and was the third child of Addie Bertha Leblanc Wexler and Charles Warren Wexler. Kay earned her Bachelor’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and her Master’s of Library Science from the University of Indiana in Bloomington, IN.
Kay had a distinguished career as a corporate and government librarian. She retired as Assistant Division Chief of Cataloguing for The Library of Congress in Washington, DC.  After retiring, Kay served as a volunteer lobbyist with The National Association of University Women which promotes causes benefiting the rights of women and children.
Kay was extraordinarily well read and informed on Congressional and Presidential actions and views. She stayed informed by reading numerous newspapers every day and subscribing to countless periodicals. She loved traveling and enjoyed trips to Australia, Central America, China, Europe and every State of the United States. Her favorite expression was “Let’s go!”
Kay was an active member of the OPALS Social Club and her bridge club. She had an entourage of friends with whom she enjoyed a fabulous life on the Washington, DC political and social scene.  One of her fondest memories was attending the Inaugural Ball of President John F. Kennedy.
Elegant and stylish, Kay always donned beautiful, brightly colored haute couture clothes.  She loved to dance and made many visits to the boardwalk casinos in Atlantic City. She was also an avid sports fan and closely followed the Washington Redskins and Los Angeles Lakers.
“Auntie Kay” loved her family and was most proud of her nieces and nephews and regularly raved about their accomplishments and contributions to society. Kay is survived by her brother, Attorney Charles W. Wexler and his wife Lorraine of The Woodlands, TX; her sister Sharon Wexler Grau and her husband Dr. Frederick Grau of Brisbane, Australia; her sister Sue Wexler Carlisle of Arlington, TX; her nieces Attorney Michelle Grau, Dr. Caron Houston and Raquel Wexler; her nephews Warren Grau, Tim Grau and Attorney Charles H. Houston III.  Her great-nieces and nephews are Dominic, Daniel, Kamali, Miles, Mattias, Brigette Jane, Connor, Sophia, Kilian, and Matilda. Her family is sure she is going to be bragging about them in the afterlife!
Kay was successful, accomplished, fiercely independent and proud. Her laughter and warmth will be dearly missed by her family and many friends from all over the country. Her final days were spent at the lovely Watercrest Community in Mansfield, TX where she moved to be nearer to her family and where she made many new friends.
