In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. The Lord of our lives has called His gracious servant, Grenelda Kay, home to His welcoming arms. She entered into His kingdom March 29, 2014 after a lengthy illness and has joined a blissful reunion with her beloved husband, and two of her children. Kay was born February 11, 1935 in Dallas, Texas and spent her entire life in The Republic, with her Mom and Dad who doted upon her as their "Tootie" and only child until two brothers were born when she was thirteen. She soon became as another proud Mother, offering them ceaseless encouragement and unbounded love. As a young working woman, she was introduced to Wilfred Emery, and their mutual affection grew into a life-long love and devoted marriage lasting from 1955 until his death in 2001. Their three children, Jimmy Doug, Lori and Greg, completed their beautiful family, and Lori and Greg each married and blessed her with three grandchildren. Kay studied nursing was immensely proud of her work as both a dutiful care-giver and wife alongside the public service of her husband, as a 30 year member of the Fort Worth Police Department. They both retired to the "Shekin Ranch" in Mansfield where she also selflessly cared for her aging Mom and Dad until their deaths. As amazing an aunt, sister, wife and daughter as she was, she shone the brightest as a mother and grandmother, "loving her children and grandchildren more" in every way, delighting in their lives and accomplishments and always there for love and support. Kay and Wil's faithful and Christian union led them to become devoted members of St Timothy's Church in 1965, where Kay remained a parishioner for 49 years. She and Wil truly loved their church, serving it with unabashed loyalty and commitment proving by their lives that it was more than a mere church - it represented a mutual passion and love for Christ, and the dedicated work they incurred as witnesses for Him. Kay lived an ardent and steadfast Christian life, committed to her Savior and His promises, and she now rests upon those promises before His throne. Kay is survived by her brothers, Budge and Dub, along with their wives, Beth and Melinda, her son Greg and his wife Karen, their two incredible children Bryce and Brooke, and Lori's daughter, Sarah. Bryce, a US Marine, and his wife Hailey are expecting Kay's first great-granddaughter, Laykin Kay, in July. Family and friends, too numerous to mention, are all invited in share in remembrance of the joy of her life at a visitation at Blessing Funeral Home on April 1, 2014 from 6-8pm, a solemn Requiem Mass at St. Timothy's Church on April 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM and internment to follow at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Veteran's Cemetery at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Joey Cushman Scholarship fund, 7004 Candleberry Court Ft. Worth, TX 76133 and/or St. Timothy's Episcopal Church 4201 Mitchell Blvd Ft. Worth, TX 76119.
