Kathryn Carol Howard

Kathryn Carol Turner Howard (Grandy) passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Monday, January 15,2018 at the age of 84.

Viewing will be held at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield on Thursday Jan. 18th from 6pm-8pm. Celebration of life service will be held Friday Jan. 19th at Blessing Funeral Home at 2:00pm.


Kathryn was born October 25, 1933 in Mansfield,Texas (Friendship Community), to
Fred Walter and Winnie Louise Bishop Turner.

Kathryn and Jesse Wayne were married March 20, 1954. They lived across the street from one another on Short Street. They were childhood sweethearts. They both graduated from Mansfield High School in 1952.

She started to work for the City of Mansfield on December 1, 1965, as City clerk, Kathryn retired January 29,1993, as Director of Community Services/City Secretary/Personnel Director. Kathryn's picture hangs on the distinguished wall of honor in the Mansfield City Hall.

Jesse and Kathryn are members of the Mansfield Church of Christ. Kathryn served four years in the late 1980's on the Mansfield Community Hospital Board, and was one of three who formed the Keep Mansfield Beautiful Commission, and served eight years. Kathryn served many years on the Mansfield Historical Society, and served as president several times. She also served on the Mansfield architectural review board when the new City Hall and library was built, served on the Mansfield Cemetery Association, and the Mansfield Historic Landmark Commission.

Kathryn was proceeded in death by, Winnie and Fred Turner(Parents), Herald Wayne Turner (brother) Shirley Sweeney (sister) and Doris Seaton (sister).

Survivors: Jesse Wayne Howard (Husband of 63 years), Fredda K Cook and Husband Mike, Gramdsons: Michael Paul and Danny Messick, Randall Wayne and Amy, Ethan Daniell, Great Grand Daughters, Tara, Makayla, and Kylie, Sister: Rose Marie Turner Frashier and Richard. And several loving nieces and nephews.
