Jaunita Joy (Buchanan) McElroy 94, of Mansfield passed peacefully in her home on December 3rd, 2022 from complications of Dementia. She was born to James E. and Margarite I. Buchanan on April 13th 1928 in San Antonio Texas. She later moved to Raymondville, Texas with her mother, where she met the love of her life, Herbert Llyod (Buddy) McElroy, when Nita was working at the Texas theater in Raymondville. They later married on February 19th, 1946 and moved to Waxahachie Texas. Juanita was proceeded in death by her husband Buddy McElroy, father James E. Buchanan, mother Margarite I Queen, brother James Llyod Buchanan, sister Sharon Gochnor, and granddaughter Laura Payne. Juanita is survived by her daughter Cheryl Haydin, husband Bob of Mansfield and their two children Robby and Holly, daughter Kimberly McElroy of Mansfield and her son Christopher McElroy, seven great grandchildren, Parker, Layton and Brantley Haydin, Madison Slane, Cynthia and Natalie McElroy and Fiona Payne.
Nita loved to sew and shop with her daughter Cheryl, but most importantly, she loved her family and friends.
Juanita's celebration of life service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, located at 777 N. Walnut Creek, Mansfield Texas 76063, Friday December 9th, 2022 with visitation at 10:00 and service at 11:00. A reception will follow, with burial at Ovilla Cemetery located at 1403 Red Oak Creek Dr. Ovilla Texas 75154 at 2:00
