With shattered hearts, the family and friends of Jose Guadalupe Chavez are mourning the loss of our “Rock”. With the love he had for his lifelong wife, Jose shared an extraordinary 28 ½ years of traveling and creating unforgettable memories but above all else, a magical unbending love.
Jose was not only a man of honor, but a man of true integrity, heroism, and valor. As a young man he served 10 years in the United States Army and serving his country was something he was very proud of. Jose was a paratrooper with 3/325 ABCT in Vicenza, Italy and later was stationed with the 1st Cavalry in Fort Hood, Texas. After the military he was hired on as a firefighter at DFW Airport. He strived hard to be the best firefighter he could be every day. On his days off he served as a part time peace officer at the Tarrant County College campuses for several years.
A few years back Jose started CrossFit which seemed to fuel the competitiveness engrained in him. On Saturday, July 23, 2016, Jose completed his last CrossFit WOD minutes before he passed, doing what he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Chavez; three wonderful daughters, Maura Chavez, Marissa Reid and husband, Steven, and Marisela Chavez; Grandson, Greyson Dahlke; mother, Carolyn Patterson, sisters, Isabel Lopez and Linda Chavez; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
