MANSFIELD -- John Raymond "J.R." Johnson Jr. passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012. Memorials: Contributions may be made in J.R.'s memory to the Mansfield Citizen's Police Academy, M.C.P.A.A.A., PSB Building, 1305 East Broad St., Mansfield, in lieu of flowers. J.R. was a gental giant of a man, a loving husband and father. We will be forever in awe of the man he was and our gratitude for his presence in our lives. His spirit will last a lifetime. He has touched lives all over the United States through his Homeland Security FEMA service as a first responder for disasters. As a father, his guidance through difficulties was so important. You could depend on him and his calm presence. He was blessed to have so many wonderful close friends. J.R. never met a stranger. He loved life and people and always wanted to be on the water with his family and friends. A lot of those friends were met through his hobby as a ham radio operator and being a part of the Ham Radio Club and being a member of the Coast Guard Auxilary 51. Survivors: Wife, Trish Johnson; son, Shawn Kelly Johnson; grandson, Colt Shawn Johnson; sister, Debby and family; mother-in-law, Shirley Huber; and the Mansfield Citizen's Police officers and members.
